Jim Goolsby was the featured speaker for the Fall program of
The Jasper County Historical Foundation. He conducted a program on Railroads in the Central Georgia area. He had done extensive historical research into the Central of Georgia Railway, and in 2006 co-authored a book with Al Langley of North Augusta, SC titled Central of Georgia Railway Steam Locomotives and Trains. Jim has deep roots in Jasper County, with the first Goolsby arrival from Oglethorpe County in the early 1800’s. Many from the community gathered for this fun and free evening of railroad and train entertainment, and left with a railroad memento! Plus – Mr. Goolsby presented the JCHF with an autographed copy of his book! Ann Mercer, chairman of the board, accepted his generous contribution!
This Fall Program was held at Thomas Persons Hall, 319 College St., home of the Jasper County Historical Foundation.
